Well, there are reasonable alternatives these days and if more companies donated to Proxmox/bought their services there would be a better replacement sooner.
But with Proxmox Datacenter Manager it’s going in the right direction.

Yeah, or they make a fine rule “For 100.000$ you can buy you out of the camp or send an immigrant to take your place.”
Because of course Trump, his cronies and all these idiots still want the option to get rid of their (35+) “aging” wife’s and make sure the 20 year old they bought cannot run away that fast.
I fully expect a “you cannot leave the country without your husband’s approval” app like in Saudi Arabia at some point.
Send them over the pond. Here the freelance/travel nurses make 2-4x what the normal nurses do(and with no real economical risk as they still are employed at the agency). And often have far better working conditions.
What a bit of regulation can do,right?
Funnily enough, my toilet has it’s own app.(“Japanese style” shower toilet by a German company)
It’s non-cloud, Bluetooth only, all functions work without it,but it tells you when preventative maintenance is due and enables you to configure the user profiles easier.
So there’s that.
Wouldn’t have bought it otherwise.
I wait for one of these systems to interfere with a legal drone operation or better some other radio/radar systems. Some countries will ignore it,but other very very much will not. And that will be a very happy day for me.
Just adding a few thoughts:
If you already use Omada for APs it might be worth it to use their switches as well. Makes networking fairly easy. MKs are nice (I use them together with Omada myself),but basically everything you would need can be achieved with the Omada Switches as well. Only for the actual Gateway/Firewall I would rather go with OPNsense or, in a pinch, MK, with the later being inferior to OPNsense.
Multiroom Audio I would very much recommend Amplipi, but I also might add that central audio with reasonably high quality is not as easy as it sounds electrically - I have seen more than a few installations that failed due to induction from other sources, timing issues, etc. It is sadly harder than one would think. It gets much much much harder for TV/motion picture relevant things as things are even more timing sensitive then.
have a look at KNX for all smart home related things. It’s the gold standard.
Omada APs, various versions. Really happy with them, their WiFi is great and unlike Ubiquity they also work without the controller as independent devices.
And sadly Omada is years behind in their gateway/Firewall. OPNsense is far better in that regard, going back to a Omada gateway is like going back to a tricycle when you drive a car. Sadly.
The 4a was beast tbh. Loved that one.
If only the fucking phone would work that long.
My Pixel 6 Pro was replaced twice within the two year warranty. Always for display errors(Display crapped out partially or has sudden “green flashes” when in maximum low light setting). Each time was a customer service nightmare and took ages. The current arrived damaged (they send you refurbished phones which in theory would be okay if they would actually be refurbished - last one was still reeking of smoke) and the FP did not work, additional loading only works when the cable is pushed in to the maximum by hand. When contacted they refuse further customer service claiming their service period ended (it did not, legally they are obligated according to the laws here), but their customer service agents do not give a shit. “It’s written here” and “then sue us, lol!” are quotes.
The problems with the screen are known and there are hundreds of posts about it online. Each listing similar troubles.
I really loved the phone when it worked. Great camera, perfect size for me, clean OS, a lot of bang for the buck. But shit like that made me get a Samsung.
There are dozens of photos that most of the military unit who were active at the parliament did not have magazines in their guns and often had blue training guns in their holsters or blue training pins in their assault rifles.
This is nothing you do by accident - especially not in a highly qualified military like the SK military. It is a very good way of making sure that for starters none does something stupid like kill a MP, but also to show other units (and people) that you are not really on the side of whoever commanded you to do what you do. And it mak sure you look favorable in court if things turn against you.
Considering that this was not a singular occurrence but happened amongst all types of units someone has ordered them/coordinatated this.
How high up that was? Who knows. But it was a pretty strong sign, especially towards other units.
Who knows, in theory it could also be a valid scenario that the military was “faking support” to motivate Yoon, knowing that he will be impeached after that.
OPNsense is like comparing a bicycle to a car (in Europe) Both will get you there, the first one is more convenient most of the time for most users, but the second one is a whole class of “more powerful”. But it’s far easier to take a shortcut with a bike.
Then use a switch …
Uhm…You actually do.
TBF they are right in my case. I pay for my ISPs small business offer, which is the former state own ISP, because they are the only ones who get me proper customer service in a reasonable time. (With 8h next business days. I could live with a few days. But it’s that or 4-8 weeks) And I need a static IPv4 which none offers for non-business customers anymore.
Damn. But that bill makes me cry every fucking month. Even fucking Starlink would be cheaper, but I do would get offline before giving money to Elon.
Basically all countries with mandatory military service have similar laws- in Germany it is “Wehrpflichtentziehung durch Verstümmelung” (which covers more than mutilation and has been used in similar cases), in Austria it’s “Herbeiführung der Dienstuntauglichkeit”, in Switzerland “Schwächung der Wehrkraft durch Verstümmelung”, in Finnland it’s “Avoidance of service”, in Sweden it can be found under treasonable offences, etc.
First of all: Get the Instance it’s own VPS - Lemmy instances are very very fluid with their resources requirements and you don’t want the instance to bog down other services you use. Use another cheap VPS instance for your other services and link them up within Hetzner if needed.
This is even more the case if you host a public instance. I would even consider using separate accounts (even though Hetzner does officially not allow that) for that. Because if one of your users does something Hetzner finds ban worthy they will, under ideal circumstances, at least stop your VPS/quarantine it. (Been there) If you are really unlucky (CSAM material posted or federated in your instance) you will get your whole account banned. Which means all your other services are gone, too. (happened to someone I know)
Don’t get me wrong,Hetzner is great, I love them. But be aware of these points. They are very proactive when it comes to these points.
Beside that: Use Docker.
Funny enough, nowadays Iran is far more free than Russia. They have “some kind of elections” which “within their ideological range” can be considered effective.(Basically as long as one manage to get by the religious control one has a certain chance of actually making it against opponents). And while insulting the religious bodies will surely land you in jail there is far more leeway towards the president - compared to Russia.
Russia is Putlers little bloody kingdom these days.
(And don’t get me wrong - Iran is still a horrible, oppressive, theocratic and surely unfree regime that is fucking up the whole region. But that’s from a western/northern perspective. If you compare Russia to Iran…well… One is a tad bit less shitty)
You can even hook it up to your PBX and route calls depending on the number recognised and let the agent responding to the call read the customer data right as they answer. Tbh, a good CRM (there are good alternatives) is absolutely worth it
I switched both my homeland and my company servers to it and couldn’t be happier.
