  • yea but SSDs are not reliable enough. random bit flips from cosmic events, degradation of data if unpowered for a long time, can only be written to so many times

they are VERY reliable for casual PC use or even server storage but not for something that could start ww3 if it glitches

also, as some other people said, dont change something that already works

  • no OP but that REALLY depends on where you live. rn i know about 4-5 farmers that raise cattle ONLY on free range pastures and dont subsidue their feed with anything else and can buy directly from them without any middle men

and i fucking hate the “so what if you can, others cant” argument in threads like these. OP was stating that they do this and its better for them. never did they say its better for everyone to do this

we have this every year in slovenia. you have to pass a technical inspection then register your car

my mom’s car failed bexause her handbrake was 11% less efficient than new (limit being 10%). she had to get it replaced and then the car passed perfectly with 0 issues stated

i’d rather do this shit than have some jerk driving around with a car thats about to fall apart and maybe not have a working brake

fun fact. modern planes consume ~3-4l per 100 passengers per km or 3-4l per passenger per 100km.

efficient ICE cars consume ~6l per passenger per 100km.

add to that, that there’s basically no good alternative to fast very long distance or cross-continent transport
