They can, I microwaved a fork out of curiosity and it was fine
It will usually just heat up and become very hot, however it can also start sparking everywhere
Some metals can be microwaved just fine.
Just use a wooden or a plastic fork
All forks can be put into the microwave, nothing bad will ever happen
