2·15 hours agoThat doesn’t sound much different than a traditional vaccine, unless you can self administer it
I vote in every election. New York has ranked choice for some things now, which is nice. The way judges are picked is pretty bad, though.
I think there’s something with age and lead poisoning that makes people short sighted, easily manipulated with emotional appeals, and short tempered.

Technology@lemmy.world•Amazon staff use AI tool for unnecessary tasks to inflate usage scoresEnglish
22·3 days agoTelling people “use more ai” was always a profoundly stupid direction. “Ship more stuff faster, use AI if it helps, get paid the same” would be anti-labor but at least sensible.
If selling widgets the customer probably doesn’t care if you used a screwdriver or a drill. They just want their widget. Mandating drill usage is stupid.

Many people aren’t paying attention. Many people are like pathologically gullible.
The average person just… if you’re smart and capable, imagine being drunk. Being drunk all the time. That’s the baseline. Myopic, impatient, emotional.
Maybe if we had better education and less capitalist hellscape people could be a little better.

I like to think in the future maga-hats will be fodder enemies in video games like Nazis. You can just kill them without remorse because they are scum.
I’m not here to watch a movie. I’m here to take this axe and hit monsters with it.
I’m sure bloodborne has a very deep story. I had a great time just hitting stuff with that axe and occasionally shooting things. That’s the bulk of the content.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•A smaller, personally curated music collection is far better than unlimited streaming
4·4 days agoI think some people enjoy the thrill of discovery more than the depth of experience. Which is fine. No judgment.
Personally I’d rather have 10 albums that mean a lot than 100,000 albums I listen to once.

19·4 days agowhy don’t they look into ways that cars might cause fewer injuries instead of abandoning the injured?
I’m pissed they’re repaving the streets near me but they’re not taking the time to make them any safer. No curb extensions or daylighting. Certainly nothing so extreme as a separate bike lane.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•AI investment should go towards live audio translation. Letting anyone in the world speak to anyone else, with no lag, in their own language, with just some earbuds would be revolutionary for humanity
152·5 days agoRight?
It drives me nuts that they want to spend trillions of dollars on technology to write for people instead of teaching people how to write.
I read that’s why they did this: to force people to use it wirelessly. Not sure that’s really a big win. Wired mice are just fine with me.

4·5 days agoThey don’t care. They don’t care about making sense or being internally consistent.
They care about their in-group being on top, and everyone else subjugated or dead. That’s it. Conservatives are bad people.

471·6 days ago“secret”?
Yeah , if consoles were a good financial deal maybe I’d buy them. They’re not. Steam is good value for the money.
If I was magically in charge, I would make it so if you got an unwanted text or call you report it and the phone company has to pay you like $10.
They don’t deal with this problem because they only care about profit.

Technology@lemmy.world•Rising Fuel Prices Are Making Return‑to‑Office Mandates Harder to DefendEnglish
