I knew a guy who went to work for palantir a bunch of years ago. Was always friendly at work. I asked him “but what’re you going to do if they do bad stuff, like spying on people?”
He just shrugged. Didn’t care. The money was good.
I don’t know if this alone is proof that’s a bad person, but I think it precludes him from being a good one.
Conservatives don’t care about being correct or consistent. They say things for effect. They follow their feelings. Something inside them is broken and ruined. They project constantly onto others, because introspection would shatter their flimsy ego.
Do the other ones have forums? I don’t remember even seeing them.
Is the steam forum supposed to be moderated by valve or the developer? I always assumed the developer.

Microsoft could have done this except they’re run by idiots and assholes. Nothing technical stopped them from launching a good store platform. They just didn’t want to.

Yes that is the legal justification. I am not interested in the legal justification. Laws are not inherently good. They were clearly paid less than their worth if there’s six figure payouts to be had here.
This is the fundamental injustice of capitalism. The owner pays you a small amount and keeps all the profits. A child would recognize that as unfair.
I didn’t personally find it difficult, but I have thousands of hours in video games.
This feels like theft. Maybe not technically legally but the people who did the chatting aren’t getting the money. Capitalist hellscape
I feel like the penalty for wage theft should be extra severe to make up for how rarely it’s reported. Like, complete forfeit of the business to the workers, leadership banned from holding a similar position for life. Then if you only nail one, the others might learn a lesson.
Seems like reducing their wealth is a win for everyone. Even the billionaires, because they’re less likely to suffer the consequences of instability, and won’t even notice the money taxed.
Microsoft is probably salivating at the idea of being the only legal OS provider.
I recently knew two people who came to the US recently.
One was from India, and he came for the money. He has a low six figure job as a “product manager” and the CEO’s toady. He’s quite ignorant of US politics and history, so he’s not really concerned.
The other came from canada, but also has EU residency (or citizenship? unclear). He said he makes more money here. He’s making mid six figures as a software engineer at a startup, with poor work/life balance. He can always leave, since his parents own a house in germany.
Neither were coming here like an old timey tale of immigrants trying to find a better life.
I wonder what the “I’ll never vote for a socialist!!” types are doing now to resolve their cognitive dissonance.
Furthermore, if you are being paid the same but your productivity goes up, and the owner keeps all the new profits, you’re being robbed.
People don’t understand things but that doesn’t stop them feeling ways about it.
Also the US tax system seems complicated and error prone.
Even if it was dirt cheap, I don’t want to give microsoft my money. I don’t want to rent games or get stuck with a subscription.

It’s hard to make a full judgment without knowing more details but “the pay is good and it’s easy” isn’t really a compelling justification for “and I help evil manifest in the world”.
