Mastodon has 2M active users and has been steady for quite a while now. Fediverse is growing, maturing. Also Lemmy is trying to compete with Reddit, and Mastodon is trying to compete wuth Twitter. Lemmy and Mastodon are not actually competing with each other.
Social ethics is not something the average people care about. I doubt if Twitter would be in trouble if not for the platform being absolutely terrible, and the non stop short slighted changes that just break things.
Lemmy felt buggy AF for me. Web client or Jerboa. Sync for Lemmy is so smooth already, it feels like business as usual to me.
