This is one of the most disgusting and disappointing things I’ve seen in Trump’s administration. And not that the list of things is small either. Even Gates, all the good he has done recently has been erased imo.
Gates was always a loathsome piece of shit. Sorry if you already knew this, but here’s a diagram for the uninitiated:
Gates’ monopoly literally destroyed the yellow area so he could get a bigger blue area, and now he gives back a portion of that blue area. The yellow area is good deals for everyone else that never happened and are now gone. That means that for all the people he’s helped with his charity, he’s hurt everyone even more! We can see the benefit of his donations; we can’t see the better world we would’ve had if he had never been born. We did not need him to develop computers.
Gates deserves the same treatment as all billionaires.
He also did the recent donating thing right after people started talking about the list in case you thought he actually wanted to do good besides tax-cuts from that donation.
I am not very skilled in economics but i feel like software scales really well, so the supply costs should be more flat. And maybe even negative. Meaning that the producer surplus will actually be a lot larger than the heuristic example here. Meaning that Gates has robbed us even more.
There has been some suspicion/rumors. But like everyone else on the list, nothing can be proven with the degree of protection the administration has given them.
