• Hezbollah fired at Kiryat Shmona.

  • Israel strikes top Hezbollah commanders in Beirut

  • Iran launches missiles on Israel to reassure Hezbollah

  • Israeli officials say they will respond

A return to full-scale war in the Middle East may be hours away.

Israel has shown the world that the only thing it understands is a gun in their face. The only way to deal with them is to shoot at them till they beg for it to stop, and be ready to start shooting again the minute they break any cease fire. The entire world should be shooting at them if we had any decency.

If this holds, the next step will be shooting them until they withdraw from the lands they have stolen.

The Zionist regime has killed over 3,000 people in Lebanon since the “ceasefire” in late 2024 including over 150 parademics in sick double tap strikes.

There will never be peace let alone justice until this genocidal colony of dismantled.

This Isn’t related, but I just watched a short documentary on Hasidic Jews from New York. And they don’t believe that Israel should exist. There’s something in their holy text Saying you can’t establish a state for the Jews before the Messiah comes.

Too bad using religious text to settle geopolitical issues is never a good idea. The fact of the matter is that the state exists. Erasure of a state shouldn’t be on the table and that goes for any country out there no matter how heinous or insignificant. Both Israel and Palestine need to come to an agreement wherein both parties can coexist in the present, otherwise their leadership is failing. I like that speech the Kenyan Ambassador Martin Kimani made to the UN back in 2022 when Russia attacked Ukraine. Sometimes it’s best to let go of historical gripes and to look at how you can work together with the “now”, otherwise you will end up fighting for all eternity.

I often mention them when I’m making the point that claims that others are being anti-semitic when they criticize Israel because Israel represents the actual Jewish People (rather than just some people who are Jews plus a whole lot more people who are not) are the thing which is anti-semitic, since claiming that Israel represents the Jewish People denies the very clear and very explicitly voiced statements from a whole branch of the Jewish Religion about Israel not representing them.

Sure, Israel represents many people who are Jews, what it clear (in the face of not only this but also other Jewish groups such as for example Jewish Voices For Peace) is that it does not represent the Jewish People as a whole and if it does not represent the Jewish People as a whole then criticizing Israel is not criticizing the Jewish People and hence is not anti-semitism.

The BBC doesn’t capture the sequence of events on purpose and Wuddi is trying to obfuscate even further.

      • Israel has been threatening to bomb a densely populated area in a Beirut suburb (this is while there’s supposed to be a ceasefire in Lebanon)

      • Iran warns Israel saying that they will retaliate if they do

      • Israel bombs that area

      • Hezbollah respond with rockets

      • Iran makes good on their retaliation

Israel seems to be the common denominator in all of the “wrongs” happening in the middle east. I remember learning as a child about the instability in the middle east and the framing that this was due to violent Muslims. Now that I can look at the region as a critical adult it is clear that the western backed settler colonial state of Israel, created by the west in 1948, is the cause of a good 90% of the trouble in the region. Imagine how much more peaceful and prosperous the entire region would be if the fanatical Zionist state was not there in the first place, or just make the entirety of Israel/Palestine one country without the apartheid and equal rights for all?

the leaders military actions have overwhelming almost universal support by the public. People on lemmy and reddit twist themselves in knots trying to defend the tiny minority of moral Israelis but they are almost all just as guilty as the leaders are. They certainly have all --without exception-- enjoyed the benefits of Israeli genocide just by living there. No israeli has clean hands on that one.

The cease fire was broken on day one when USA blockaded the ports, Iran demanded ships pay tolls for passing through the strait, and Israel and Hezbollah never got the memo to stop shooting at each other.

‘Negotiating’ in those conditions is performative at best.

It’s Shrodinger’s war. Both a war and not a war at the same time. Neither side wants the war to continue, but neither side wants to back down.
